Mom’s the Word, My Bump and Me

I am so grateful for every moment that I am pregnant. It was such a struggle for us to get to this point it’s been hard to even believe that – this is really happening. But, I am now very confident that in a short time we will meet our baby boy! Now that I am feeling more confident and really feeling pregnant, I have a joke with my husband where I keep announcing my pregnancy to him. Guess what, honey?! I am pregnant. And, I am. I am currently 28 weeks and drowning in the joy of all things pregnant women get to do, including shop and wear maternity clothes.

So, it was a delight to have the opportunity to review a couple pieces from Mom’s the Word maternity collection. My two favorite pieces arrived a while back when I was only about 20 weeks pregnant, wrapped in tissue paper and a bow. Don’t you just love when companies make that extra effort to make your order feel special? I do.

I first took out the Madison Maxi Dress and noticed how lusciously soft it felt. As soon as I tried it on, I knew it would be one of my favorites. And, it has been. I wore it for a maternity shoot in Bushwick, Brooklyn with the talented and fun Mariliana Alvero of Stylish and Hip Kids Photography. The first photo shows how the ruched and stretchy fabric accents my very loved bump. The next photo, I paired the dress with my favorite Vince vest and wedges. I love how you can pair this black dress with so many things or nothing at all and it will always be flattering and FUN; I mean look what a great time I am having on the back of that trailer. I also think it would look great with a jean jacket. Or if you are not in a trailer mood you can also dress this maxi up with some great jewelry and heels (or gorgeous flats if your pregnancy is not heel friendly).

The next goodie I received is my favorite pregnancy t-shirt EVER – The Buddha Belly Tee. When I saw it, I had to have it to cover my new Buddha belly. This Buddha shirt is so great. I love wearing it and watching people smile at it as they walk by. I smile about it every time I think about it. It’s just perfect for my maternity yoga practice as you can see in the photo below.

The position I am in is particularly special to me. This is a pose I do at the end of my Divine Mother Prenatal Yoga DVD, when Anna Getty, the instructor, says put one hand on your heart and one hand on your baby while I am sitting cross-legged on the floor. It is so special because at our sixteen week ultrasound the baby was sitting cross-legged with one hand on his heart and the other on his head (the baby), just like the pose in the photo that I do at the end of my yoga. I guess I am growing a little yogi in there!

I am so grateful for all the happiness these clothes have brought me. I am looking forward to ordering some more Mom’s the Word soon.

I received the Mom’s the Word clothing in the photographs for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.

Rosie Pope Fall Collection

This morning I walked out with Malcolm, my adorable Yorkie, for our morning stroll through the park wearing a tank top and cut off cargo pants and realized – I was under dressed. BRRR…fall is here! Well, not really quite yet. A quick internet search informed me that fall starts September 23rd this year. That leaves plenty of time for soon to be mammas to be, like me, to purchase their fall maternity wardrobes and moms to purchase their babies’ fall wardrobes.

One of my favorite things about being pregnant is all of the new opportunities to shop! I am always looking out for adorable baby clothes and fun, comfy and stylish maternity clothes. So, being able to cover the Preview of The Rosie Pope Maternity & Baby Fall Collection was a real treat. I not only previewed Rosie’s new Fall Maternity and Baby collection; I also witnessed a photo shoot happening at the studio AND I learned details about the line from Rosie Pope herself!

Rosie Pope Headshot

I just wanted to snuggle with all the soft and adorable clothes in Rosie’s new baby collection. The baby girl pieces were super adorable; but, I am having a boy so I was scoping out the baby blue pieces. One of my favorite pieces was this sweet striped kimino set, pictured below.

Rosie said that her children inspired the darling prints in her baby collection.

In addition to being soft and adorable, I loved how smartly these pieces were designed and how affordable they are. For example, Rosie’s kimino sets are perfect for newborns because they protect the umbilical cord stump. They also have mitten folds to protect baby from scratching himself and feet that unbutton and fold back so the outfit will grow with him. Rosie mentioned that it was also important to keep her clothing affordable. This kimino set is available on on Amazon.

After day dreaming about dressing my future baby boy, I got back to the best place to be – the present moment to focus on Rosie’s fantastic maternity collection.

Everyone has a different body so there are different essentials that each woman needs and Rosie covers all the bases with regard to style from wrap dresses to fitted tops to cozy pants. She is also very smart with her maternity designs. Below, the model is wearing a fantastic red top from the collection. This top is made from a nylon material that does not lose its shape and also wicks away sweat if you are a “hot” mama. Amazingly, this and most pieces in Rosie’s collection can be thrown into the washer and dryer at home, which is super convenient.

In addition to previewing Rosie’s Fall collection, Rosie and I were able chat a little and bond over our infertility struggles. I am blessed to now be 24 weeks pregnant with my first a baby boy and Rosie has been blessed with four beautiful children, who help inspire many of the designs in her baby collection. Rosie is such an inspiration. Despite her struggles, she kept moving forward and now has a beautiful large family and provides pregnant woman and new mothers with fantastic affordable clothing options.

Happy shopping!
